ADVOCACY

BUILDING WITH RESILIENCE ADVOCATES FOR

State Legislation and regulations that:

  • Require statewide insurance recognition for structures that are built with non-combustible materials and appropriate safety codes.
  • Encourage the adoption of programs that provide financial incentives, tax breaks, grants, and rebates for the use of non-combustible materials for reconstruction, existing home hardening, and all new construction.
  • Mandate statewide and local planning with dedicated funding for redundant  transportation ingress and egress for all communities in the state with sufficient lane miles to increase safety.
  • Mandate statewide and local planning with dedicated funding for sufficient updated water infrastructure for public health, safety, and reliability.
  • Extend executive orders on permit streamlining for rebuilding to include the permitting of supply chain materials and all commercial and new home construction.

Local and State Building codes that:

  •  Extend Building Code 7A for all communities in the state, not just those in the rural-urban interface and state responsible areas.  
  • Encourage Statewide adoption of Zone 0 – ensuring non-combustible hardscape like gravel, pavers, or concrete adjacent to dwellings and structures. 
  • Provide model building codes and ordinances that emphasize non-combustible fire-resilient construction.
  • Create fire safety information on non-combustible materials for easier fire Building Code Official/Marshall sign-off.
